Is it cliché to say that I love Target? Because I do. And I do hit up Starbucks most times I go. If that makes me a Basic B, then so ‘b’ it… in fact, I embrace it (ha, see what I did there?). This week I found some cute and inexpensive items that will be GREAT for some kinesthetic learning activities. I was looking for themed erasers to use for math activities in the Dollar Spot and got these instead. If you want them, you should probably go soon- Dollar Spot items seem to disappear as quickly as they’re stocked. 😉 And get a coffee while you’re there.

Ring Toss Game- $3

I am always looking for ways to spice up learning those foundational skills. Especially since most of them require some degree of memorization and repetition. Unless you’re using them for recess toys, this is best with a small group on the rug/floor, table, or outside. They aren’t super durable, but what I would expect for the price. You’ll also want the kid’s close…they aren’t super easy to throw on, even for a semi-coordinated adult, but that’s part of the fun, right?

Write in Expo or Sharpie what skill you’re practicing- here I used them for sight words.
3 ways to play- so easy to differentiate
- Have the students take turns tossing all of the rings (so at least one makes it onto a cone). Have them call out the word (or whatever skill you’re practicing) on the cones that they make it on.
- Call out what you want them to toss their ring onto, for example: “Toss your ring on the cone that says, see”.
- Give your students the rings that match the color of the cone you want them to practice. I love this for students who need a lot teacher guidance with a particular skill and/or are a little less confident or familiar with what you’re working on. “Find the sight word, ‘how’. It matches the color of your ring”.
Bonus: Babies like them, too! 😀

Activity Dice- $3
I love these for a brain break and/or very active students! They could also be used for a center when learning about animals. Good for practicing counting too! 😉

Gold Coins/Gems party favor pack- $4ish
I found this pack in the party favor section while again searching for themed eraser packs. I love the coins for March math activities and games, and the gems for counters! What Kindergartener doesn’t love gems. Honestly…I may have to keep them locked up… 😉
