I’ll admit that I am not the biggest fan of winter and the cold in real life, but I do love a good theme! I spend one week in January or February doing lessons on snow and winter themed activities.
Below are some ideas that I love incorporating into my classroom along with a freebie and snowball bundle that you can grab from my TpT store. I included my favorite winter books and a link to a ton of YouTube videos to use in your classroom on my “Snow Vids” playlist.
INSTANT SNOW
This is a major hit in our classroom! I buy the fake instant snow here. It’s pricey, but makes a lot! I used the same container for a few years before needing to buy another. This is mostly a fun activity that I do on Fun Friday’s to conclude our week of snow, but easy to incorporate the scientific method, 5 senses, a writing activity- or you can blow their minds by letting them know it’s the same way diapers work, haha!

SNOW & WINTER BOOKS
My favorite books for the season-

SNOW SCIENCE
I picked up this Snow Science pack from Pocket of Preschool. My Students loved doing the ice experiments!

SNOW SNACK
This was one of our Fun Friday snacks! I always have to buy these Cheeto Snowflake snacks right when I see them at the store…they go quickly and then they are impossible to find! I picked up the sorting and graphing sheet freebies from Sharing Kindergarten.

SNOWBALL FIGHT GAME
Coordinated chaos for sure, but one of my favorite activities and the kindies LOVE it too! There are so many ways to play and it’s a great way to get the wiggles out.

Check out how to play and grab the Snowball Fight Freebie!
Want more snowball themed activities? Pick up the bundle– includes CVC read the room, count the room, emergent reader with leveled writing pages, snowball fight game with premade snowballs, and I Spy sight words.
